3-day Vehicle Counter-Ambush and Maneuvers Course

Tactical Options Vehicle Counter Ambush and Maneuvers Course is a 30-hour program designed to advance the student on critical skills requiring extreme violence to stop unsuspecting ambush-type street threats. LEOs and civilians throughout the USA are increasingly becoming exposed to unexpected threats whose only intention is to kill LEOs or cause public atrocities. Through the program, students will be exposed to actions and skill sets required to achieve success if faced with deadly street threats. Students will learn effective practices on how to be prepared to respond to unsuspecting/unanticipated threats in aggressive and accountable means to ensure survivability.

Students will go through progressive and safe building stages that will increase knowledge and skills in their everyday readiness. With their weapons platforms, students will successfully execute advanced weapon manipulation practices and engage targets in confined spaces of vehicles, perform various maneuvers on a series of threat contingencies and elevated performance drills, and know how to maximize usage of cover in immediate close deadly street encounters. Students will leave with enhanced vehicle/barricade knowledge on offensive and defensive practices, situational assessment and execution, ballistic successes and where the failures are for vehicle penetration with carbine and pistol rounds, communication, and counter-maneuver tactics with multiple personnel. Skillsets and tactics will be validated through multiple safe live fire stages. Through safe practices, students will conduct buddy-team live fire vehicle maneuvers. Students will leave with an advanced stage level of performance, confidence, and skills that maximize mental readiness for everyday unknowns. This program enforces safety and accountability of all actions. Students will be developed through various building phases of crawl, walk, run for the shooter to advance achievable and realistic standards.

This 3-day program and course objectives include:

• Equipment vehicle set up, mission essential equipment sop development, and employment techniques. thoughts for everyday readiness
• Vehicle engagement methodologies and various counter-ambush tactics
• Weapon transition, magazine changes / tac-mag reload weapon dynamic safe handling techniques
• Barricade/vehicle shooting positions and engagement methods: rollover prone, bend-over prone, kneeling, crouching, confined space fundamental application
• Multiple target acquisition and threat reduction methods
• Ballistic impacts on glass and vehicle body penetration familiarization: offensive vs defensive
• Situational assessment requiring immediate threat reduction methods on multiple high-percentage and low-percentage targets
• Vehicular engagement maneuvers and counter-engagement techniques
• Single, two-man, four-man maneuver drills, procedural flows, and live fires
• Weapons malfunction drills, clearance procedures, and threat reduction follow-through
• Multiple confined space weapon manipulation shooting drills with both pistol and carbine
• 3-dimensional threat criteria and problem-solving
• Deliberate and methodical vehicle / dead space clearance procedures vs hasty maneuvers: individual to multi-officer
• Precision fire and maneuver TTPs and communication techniques: individual/collective duties and responsibilities
• Immediate action drills (IAD) individual/collective: multi-angle high percentage / low percentage shot placement, linear – 360-degree vehicle IAD drills, communication pro word actions and execution methods
• Live fire counter-ambush execution and clearing into the unknown scenarios: individual-to-team movement procedures, danger zone penetration condition set, split lane procedural flows, shoot / no-shoot identification, communication methods, low percentage engagements
• Care-under-fire (limited): individual/collective application, covering method while staying in the fight and providing self-aid under stress
• Focal cognitive drills

Required Equipment:

• Carbine with mounted tactical light, sling, and optic (must be zeroed before arrival)
• Pistol with mounted light and holster (bring spare batteries if you have an RDS mounted)
• 5 carbine magazines and 5 pistol magazines
• Optic spare batteries, optic mounting screws, and tools (none will be provided)
• Concealable and/or belt pouches (optional), duty belt with holster / tac-belt with holster
• Carbine and pistol magazine carrier (minimum carry of two pistol magazines and 3 carbine magazines)
• Soft armor and/or tac-carrier system with plates (shooter kit, swat kit, etc.)
• Ballistic eye protection is clear and tinted (half jackets and like models not authorized)
• Ballistic helmet (you will borrow from class if you are not issued one)
• IFAK / bleeder kit with tourniquet (must have tourniquet to use during vehicle drills)
• Ear protection (noise canceling is most recommended)
• Gloves and knee/elbow pads (cars will get chewed up and there’s always someone who slices a hand on shot-up cars b/c they didn’t bring their gloves. That guy is generally me so learn from my consistent mistakes)
• Range training clothes top and bottom (bring a long sleeve top b/c of floating glass)
• Wet weather / cold weather gear (check the weather)
• Weapons cleaning kit and lubricant (Qtips and lens cleaning wipe for weapon optics)
• Water/snacks
• Note-taking material
• Chair, overhead pop-up canopy, coolers, personal grill for lunch (optional)
• Long sleeve top (recommended to cover your arms from the glass during the vehicle interior shooting blocks)

Packing List:

• Carbine system with iron sights and/or RDS (RDS most recommended) and sling
• Spare batteries and mounting screws for RDS (none will be provided)
• Minimal of 5 carbine magazines (will shorten reload times during active courses of fire)
• Duty belt, tac-belt, chest carrier system to hold spare magazines
• Range training clothing
• Ballistic tinted and clear eye protection
• Hearing protection (noise canceling recommended)
• Gloves (optional)
• Note-taking material (you will record your data)
• Weapons cleaning kit with lubricant (have Q-tips, optics mounting tools, lens wipes)
• Water and snacks
• Lunch (optional as an hour lunch break will be provided)
• Sunscreen
• Wet weather clothing (check weather)
